Talk Mate Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Talk Mate, including the mobile app, related backend services, and premium features. By using Talk Mate, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility and Account Use
- You must comply with applicable laws when using Talk Mate.
- You may use Talk Mate in guest mode or by signing in with Google/Supabase.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your device/account access secure.
2. Service Description
Talk Mate provides translation-related features, including:
- Speech-to-text transcription
- Machine translation
- Text-to-speech playback
- Realtime duplex voice sessions (where enabled)
- Conversation history sync for signed-in users
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, or infringing activity
- Attempt to bypass paywalls, quotas, or security controls
- Reverse engineer, probe, or disrupt app/backend infrastructure
- Use automated abuse traffic that degrades service for others
4. Subscriptions, Billing, and Free Tier
4.1 Premium subscriptions
- Premium access is offered through in-app purchases via Apple/Google billing.
- Subscription management, renewal, and cancellations are handled by your app store account.
- Talk Mate uses RevenueCat for entitlement verification and sync.
4.2 Free-tier limits
- Non-premium use may be subject to daily voice usage limits.
- If free-tier limits are reached, voice features can be blocked until reset, upgrade, or an eligible rewarded-ad unlock.
4.3 Rewarded ads
- On supported Android builds, non-premium users may receive optional rewarded ads.
- Reward conditions, eligibility, and limits may change at any time.
4.4 Refunds
Refund requests are generally handled by Apple App Store or Google Play under their billing terms and policies.
5. Third-Party Services
Talk Mate depends on third-party providers (including Supabase, Google services, RevenueCat, and AdMob). Service behavior may be affected by third-party outages, policy changes, or API limits outside our control.
6. User Content and License
You retain rights to content you submit (such as speech or text). You grant Talk Mate a limited license to process that content to provide app functionality (transcription, translation, TTS, sync, and reliability operations).
7. AI/Translation Output Disclaimer
- Translations and speech outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete.
- Talk Mate is not a substitute for professional advice, certified translation, or emergency services.
- You are responsible for verifying critical information before relying on outputs.
8. Availability and Changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service at any time, including feature sets, pricing, quotas, and integrations.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, or create operational/security risk.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Talk Mate is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Talk Mate and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from use of the service.
12. Privacy
Your use of Talk Mate is also governed by our Privacy Policy: Talk Mate Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised Terms.
